How can science be communicated for the Whole brain?
Beautiful Earth is a unique education experience for people of all ages that combines live music, a multi-media presentation of NASA visualizations and timelapses, NASA scientist and Native American perspectives of the Earth, and hands-on workshops at partner museums and schools across the U.S.
Based on the success of BELLA GAIA, the program illuminates the connections between natural systems and human activities to inspire audiences to act as stewards for our shared resources and stimulate greater interest in STEM.
The Beautiful Earth program has successfully been used to instill in people of all ages and backgrounds a desire to care for our home planet. Independent evaluations revealed that it exceeded all program objectives and target success indicators. After the program 90% of participants indicated they thought addressing climate change was “important” to “very Important.” The program more than doubled (from 31% to 64%) the number of respondents saying it was “very important to learn about the Earth and its importance to our lives, families and community.”

Beautiful Earth combines the live BELLA GAIA music/audio visual show of images of Earth from Space with interactive discussions with NASA scientists and Native American Educators, and hands-on engagement.
The Hands-on workshop is an important component to the Beautiful Earth Program for students to deepen their learning experience. Students perform experiments simulating various Earth processes. Scientific research suggests that our neurochemistry opens the door to cognitive learning through emotional and right-brain engagement, and without creating this deeper, memorable experience, the human brain does not learn. Humans absorb what they feel not what they are taught, and this is what drives action. , |
